Fantastic Bognor in Bloom Awards Evening
Published: 22 October 2026

Seaons’ at Bognor Regis Football Club were our hosts this year to celebrate our Bognor Regis in Bloom Awards Evening on 8th October 2026. It was a delight to welcome so many of our competition entrants, In Bloom Working Group members, Councillors, Chair of Arun District Council, our wonderful sponsors and invited guests to the evening to recognise the floral achievements of our green-fingered residents, businesses and schools.
Once again, our In Bloom Working Group members decorated the hall using seasonal produce and flowers to create a stunning autumnal theme for the evening.
Mayor, Cllr. Paul Ralph welcomed everyone and thanked all In Bloom entrants for providing much enjoyment to residents and visitors alike with their glorious examples of beautiful gardens, dazzling basket displays and colourful business frontages dotted around the town.
Our Bognor Regis in Bloom Chair, Gillian Edom acted as host and started the evening by introducing our youth awards. The Bognor Regis in Bloom Working Group are extremely keen to encourage the younger members of our community to engage with gardening and connect with nature and build lifelong skills. We were therefore delighted to welcome representatives from Little Acorns Pre-School, Bersted Green who won this year’s Schools and Nursery Tomato Growing Competition. A big thank you to one of our sponsors, Brick Kiln Garden Centre for providing all the tomato seeds. We are pleased to hear the children are still enjoying the tomatoes they grew by using them in pizza toppings and tomato soup. We were also thrilled to receive a short talk from the pupils of South Bersted C of E Primary School who spoke so enthusiastically about their experiences and enjoyment of growing their own vegetables.
New entrants to our competition are always welcome and this year’s award went to Elizabeth House, Victoria Drive. The winner from this category was chosen from any of the entered categories and gardens were judged on design, colour and quality of plants and vegetables. Elizabeth House planted a beautiful boat in their garden with wonderful mixed planting that span the seasons and very importantly attract all types of pollinators.
Thanks as always to our sponsors: Bognor Regis Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Brick Kiln Garden Centre, Arundel Trophies and Variety Celebrants. We very much value your ongoing support of our competition.
Whilst this year’s competition may be over, we will soon be planning next year’s campaign. We know that our climate is changing, and we think it’s important that our competition categories reflect what is happening in our changing natural world. We will therefore be considering how we can adapt our gardens and green spaces to meet those challenges, while of course remaining beautiful. So, keep an eye out for next year’s competition; its going to be exciting.
