Amended services on some Southern routes on Epsom Derby Day – Saturday 7 June | | |
In order to provide a safe and efficient service for the event, we will be operating an amended timetable on Saturday. Extra services will be running to and from Tattenham Corner, to provide up to six trains per hour rather than the usual two, with trains serving the event running with as many carriages as possible to provide extra capacity. To facilitate this, there will be some changes to certain Southern services for one day only, and some stations will have no Southern trains. Where this is the case, tickets will be valid on alternative operators’ services. Details on the specific changes and impacts are shown below and are also on our changes to train times page on the Southern website. Amended train times are shown in journey planners and we are publicising the altered services via a bulletin on our website and updates via social media, as well as via information at the impacted stations. We are also encouraging all customers travelling that day to buy their tickets in advance or to use Oyster or Contactless to speed up their journey and avoid potential queues.
AMENDMENTS TO SOME SOUTHERN SERVICES ON SATURDAY 7 JUNE
The following changes are planned to Southern services:
Enhanced Tattenham Corner services will be comprised of the following services:
• For the majority of the day, London Victoria to Reigate services (2 trains per hour) will be diverted from East Croydon to run to Tattenham Corner. From Purley this will run non-stop to Tattenham Corner.
• The London Bridge to East Croydon via Tulse Hill service will be extended to Tattenham Corner. From East Croydon this service will call at South Croydon, Purley, Reedham, Coulsdon Town and Tattenham Corner.
Other Southern service amendments
• The London Bridge to Beckenham Junction via Crystal Palace service will not run.
• The London Victoria to London Bridge via Crystal Palace service will not run.
• The London Victoria to West Croydon via Crystal Palace service that normally ceases operation after 20:00 will be extended to run until the end of service on Saturday evening. This is to provide an evening service at a number of stations in place of the removed service groups referred to above.
Impacts at affected stations
• New Cross Gate, Brockley, Honor Oak Park, Forest Hill and Sydenham will have no Southern trains. There will be ticket acceptance on London Overground Windrush line services, which are planned to run as normal and London Underground Jubilee line between Canada Water and London Bridge.
• Crystal Palace will have no direct link to London Bridge. Ticket acceptance will be in place on London Overground Windrush line services and London Underground Jubilee line between Canada Water and London Bridge.
• Redhill, Merstham and Coulsdon South will have no Southern service, but Thameslink will still be operating to and from these stations. Passengers for Victoria should change at East Croydon.
• Reigate will have no Southern services, and ticket acceptance has been arranged on Great Western Railway. Passenger for London should change at Redhill and use Thameslink services.
• Birkbeck will have no train service and ticket acceptance will be in place on London Trams.
• Beckenham Junction will have no Southern trains and ticket acceptance will be in place on Southeastern services and London Trams.
