Update on upcoming London Underground Strikes and how it affects GTR Services
Published: 01 November 2024

Good afternoon,
I am writing with an update regarding industrial action that will be taking place on the London Underground network between today, Friday 1 November and Tuesday 12 November and how this is expected to impact our Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern services.
While this industrial action does not involve our staff or impact our trains, it will affect some of the stations we serve that are managed by London Underground. A summary of the impact to our services on each day is shown below.
It is important to note that London Underground staff working across different roles will be on strike on different days through this period. This means there will be changes to the levels of Underground services that will run each day, including no service on the entire Tube network at all on some days. Full details can be found on the Transport for London website.
As a result, on some days during this period our trains in and around London could be much busier. In particular, our trains and stations are likely to be very busy on the following routes:
- Between Balham and London Victoria
- Between London Bridge/Elephant & Castle and London St Pancras
- Between Sutton and London Blackfriars via Wimbledon
- Between Welwyn Garden City/Hertford North and Moorgate via Finsbury Park
- Between Hendon and London St Pancras
We have provided information on dedicated pages on our Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern websites with the latest information on the expected impacts and changes to our services. We’ll also be providing information on electronic screens at affected stations in the coming days, as well as via our social media (Twitter/X) feeds. Online journey planners such as nationalrail.co.uk or on our Apps are in the process of being updated, with the changes to train services visible from Saturday.
As always, if you require any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best wishes
Ben
