Last week we launched a full refresh of our apps to deliver an improved experience for customers.
The new app for Southern went live last Monday as an initial test to check for deployment bugs, and then the new apps for Thameslink, Great Northern and Gatwick Express went live on Wednesday. This is also the first time Great Northern has a dedicated app, as previously customers were encouraged to use the Thameslink app.
The new apps will be more reliable and have more functionality for customers, enabling more seamless journeys. Customers are now able to purchase digital railcards in the app and are even able to purchase and use new digital barcode-based season tickets (called sTickets) through the app.
sTickets are in-app barcode season tickets, enabling customers to travel more seamlessly and helping them to benefit from the significant discounts season tickets bring without the need to carry a paper season ticket or smartcard as well.
The new apps also of course come with the full real time information and service updates, journey finding and ticket retailing features you would expect.
We are also planning to roll out further improvements in future updates in the coming weeks.
Now they are live, these new and improved apps will deliver a better experience for customers and make it easier for them to travel by train.
