In Bloom 2021 Awards Evening

Published: 18 October 2021

The 2021 Bognor Regis in Bloom Awards Evening was held at ‘Seasons’ Bognor Regis Football Club, last Thursday evening.

With a fantastic turn out from this year’s entrants, including representatives from Bersted Green Primary and South Bersted School, the evening was opened by the Town Mayor Cllr Steve Goodheart and Town Crier, Mrs Jane Smith. In attendance along with category sponsors, were the Chairman of Arun District Council, Cllr Jim Brooks, West Sussex County Council Vice-Chairman Cllr Sujan Wickremaratchi and one of this year’s Guides competition winners, Charlotte Sturgess. As ever, the Bognor Regis in Bloom Chairman, Margaret Huntingdon led proceedings.

In addition to each category winner, new for this year were the ‘Mayor’s Certificates of Commendation’, which were awarded to Simon Mooney for his outstanding efforts in clearing litter from the streets of Bognor Regis and to Edward Fane and Nick Doling, for their community spirit in helping to tend to gardens and open space plots in their neighbourhood, especially through ‘lockdown’.

This year’s Civic Award winners were the Bognor Community Gardeners, who do so much work in the Town on various green areas including Argyle Circus, Bognor Regis Town Cemetery, Hothampton car park, The Sunken Gardens and Morrisons corner, to name a few.

If you are a local business and are interested in supporting this Competition, we are looking for new sponsors! For further information, please contact the Bognor Regis in Bloom Committee Clerk: rebeccavervecken@bognorregis.gov.uk or call: 01243 867744
