In Bloom Unveils NEW Planters at Station!
Published: 15 November 2019
The Bognor Regis in Bloom Working Group, in partnership with Sussex Community Rail Partnership and Southern Rail and our fantastic Town Force team, are delighted to unveil two new planters at Bognor Regis Railway Station.
Following the completion of the £2.5 million makeover of the station’s Grade II-listed building in January 2018, members of the Bognor Regis in Bloom Working Group were keen to add some colour and a floral finish to the rather empty concourse area.
After receiving funding and support from Southern Rail, the Working Group had been looking at how to spend their remaining budget on environmental projects that would have a real impact on the community, including residents and visitors alike – and the brightening up of the station seemed the perfect opportunity!
With Bognor Regis in Bloom now signed up as a station partner and receiving funds to go towards kick starting this planting, future projects and planting could well be a possibility.
Speaking of the impact of the project on regular users of the station, Bognor Regis in Bloom Chairman, Margaret Huntingdon said “Having been a user of the Bognor Regis Railway Station for many decades, it is with great satisfaction that at last we can make this empty barnlike concourse a welcoming destination.”
Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Southern, Katherine Cox, said: “It is fantastic to see the local community and partners come together to brighten up Bognor Regis; this is a fitting boost following the completion of the station’s upgrade project early last year. We look forward to seeing the station bloom in the coming months.”
