Asset of Community Value - The Regis Centre

Places and spaces in your community that are important to local people can be nominated as Assets of Community Value (ACV) and if they come up for sale, the community can bid for them.

If an ACV comes up for sale, the community can have up to six months to raise the funds to bid for it using the Community Right to Bid. At the end of the period, the owner may sell it to whoever and at whatever price they choose.

A community group (such as a society, parish council, neighbourhood forum, not for profit organisation or a group of at least 21 individuals) that is locally connected to the area can nominate an asset to the local authority.

Listed ACVs stay on your local authority’s list for up to five years. During this period, if the owner of the listed asset decides to sell the community have up to six weeks to express an interest in becoming potential bidders to buy the asset.

Once an expression of interest has been received, a further four and a half months pause in the sale process is triggered. This gives potential bidders a total of six months to raise the funds required to purchase the asset. At the end of the period, the owner may sell it to whoever and at whatever price they choose.

For the Local Authority to consider the Regis Centre as an ACV there needs to be proof that local organisations, groups and charities use the building and believe it to be of interest socially or that it increases the wellbeing of the community now and in the future.

The Regis Centre was previously listed but this is now at the end of the five years and needs to be re-nominated. The Town Council with support from Arun Arts are in the process of gathering evidence of support to re-nominate The Regis Centre. Please print the attached form, fill it out and send to the Town Hall, there are collection boxes at The Regis Centre, the Town Hall and Bognor Regis Library for this purpose. Alternatively, where you can fill the form in here save to your computer and email it to us at bognortc@bognorregis.gov.uk

Thank you for your support.
