Tables and Chairs license consultation

A consultation looking at the charging for the licensing of tables and chairs on the pavement outside businesses is now live.

The charge currently stands at a flat fee. West Sussex County Council are consulting on proposals which would see ‘sliding scale’ charges – dependent on the number of covers (a cover is usually a single chair).

The consultation runs from Monday 27 January to Monday 24 February. They are very keen for traders and key stakeholders in particular to take part and give their views. You can access it at www.westsussex.gov.uk/tablesandchairs2020.

Please encourage traders and business organisations in your area to take part in the consultation – their views are very important in helping ensure WSCC have a workable system in place that is equitable for businesses of all sizes across the county.
