The Picturedrome’s fourth screen, officially numbered Screen Two, opened in January 2019 to allow extra films to be shown.
The £1m extension to the Victorian building was delayed because of the need for extra safety checks. But the owner, Bognor Regis Town Council, and the operator, Picturedrome Electric Theatre Company, finally got the go-head to admit the public to the 102 seats.
The first film to be shown, at short notice, was seasonal comedy The Grinch at 1pm on December 21.
Adam Cunard, managing director of the Picturedrome Electric Theatre Company, said: “I’m pleased we have finally been able to open the fourth screen at the Picturedrome.
“Having the additional screen will enable us to show more films than ever before to provide residents of the Bognor Regis area and beyond with additional choice. We hope our regular audiences will enjoy the comfort of the modern surroundings of the new screen and they will be joined by those yet to experience the latest technology in our historic building.
“Our commitment to providing excellent value for money stays unchanged as we start this new year and new chapter in the cinema’s history.”
